Nervous Contentment

Smiling, laughing, playing, sleeping
all our thoughts, somewhat leaping
covers shared, pillows dented
arms embracing, bodies contented

Fingers shaking " is it real?
Hearts thumping "what will they reveal?
Dawn breaks as light shines through
the ground covered with morning dew.

these comforting arms no longer embraced
the light slowly drains away from her face.
His bright eyes and chagrined smile
cause her head to race for miles

She dreams of him, all through the day
wondering about the things he'll say.
maybe he'll talk, maybe he won't
maybe he'll abandon it blowing it off.

Maybe a night, to stay in her dreams.
Possibly an innocent thought, it all seems.
Let's never bring it up, and not really talk.
She smiled, heartbreakingly. "It's okay."
