As I gaze upon this woman
I admire her skills
To hide what's so easily seen
And pretend life is so well.

She smiles when she's not home
And when he isn't near
But if you look deep inside
You'll find what's really there.

She treasures the freedom
That she knows she'll never have
She wishes upon the stars
To watch over her at night.

But what she hides deep inside
Is why she always cries
Why she is so weak
And why she has to hide.

This woman is not strong
She's barely holding on
She's bruised, scratched, and battered
And she really shouldn't be.

As I gaze upon this gravestone
It really gets to me
Her short life was barely lived
And now it will never get to be.
