New Year, New Me?
The saying goes,
“New year, new you!”
Supposedly,
you are reborn,
reinvented.
But, are you really?
Are you so different
from the soul you were
a minute, a day,
even a week ago?
No, you’re the same as before.
Just the same, old person.
Such change doesn’t transpire—
at least, not so quickly.
Years and years of effort are spent
grinding for goals—not resolutions.
Forget New Year’s resolutions—
O, such short-lived decisions—
but make goals that can last.
Purposeful action,
perseverance?
Essential.
