New York City Vibe

Skyscrapers instead of legs
Neon signs instead of eyes,
Within her soul you got a real
New York City type of vibe.

When she spoke she spoke
With volume of crowded city streets,
She really wasn't like someone
I've ever had the chance to meet.

Her laughter rumbled loudly,
With the sound of Subway Trains,
And sometimes it seemed she held all
Of Times Square in her brain.

But sometimes she'd seem quiet
Until she caught someone's eyes
They say the city never sleeps,
I think that's a bunch of lies.

Cause even big old cities
Feel down on days or two,
Yes, even New York City
Has felt the color blue.

This Poems Story

I'm sixteen years old and a sophomore in high school. Writing has always been calming to me, and I often draw inspiration from my amazing friends and family. However, for this poem I was not inspired by any one person but rather the commonalities between big cities and people. Both of them often hide hardship behind a vibrant personality.
