Nicotine

I fell in love with someone
who did not want to be loved.
I kissed someone who did not
want to feel the warmth of another.
I laid with someone who did not
want to be touched.
I laughed with someone who did not
want to experience happiness.
I cried over someone who did not
want to care for me.
And like a drug
he killed me from the inside out.
But just like nicotine in a cigarette
I still craved him.
And the more I craved
the more he filled my lungs
with a chaos so beautiful
it was a privilege
to die from overdose.
