Night

A blanket of the deepest blue
Splattered with shining droplets of dew
Stretches across and over the world
An endless expanse when it is unfurled

And in it twinkles pinpoints of light
That range from dull to the brightest of white
They push against the black boundary
Like wild spirits trying to break free

If you go outside you can hear the cry
Of the old grey owl ready to fly
Or hear the skittering of little mice
A sound like the sound of cracking ice

A cacophony of silence against your ears
Giving way to your deepest fears
For in the darkness there lurks a beast
A terror that has never ceased

In the Night is the unknown
The reasons to never be alone
