Nights of Fire

I remember those nights
They were speckled with fairy lights
And the glow of my room made me believe we had a chance
Instead, I just got a last dance
That should be enough, but it's not
The fire burning inside you was hot
But now you've gone cold
And our love has grown old
Our love was lightning on a grey summer afternoon
I know you have to go soon
But lay with me before you leave
You know I'll miss you so much
Your kiss is frozen to the touch
I wonder what I saw in you
But then I look
And fall in love all over again
As you fall out because she loves you too
And she's got you on a hook
I acted like a mother hen
So I'm sorry that I loved you more than the stars
But you just left me with scars.
