No Color No Race

No Color No Race

We should have seen light
Instead we saw night after day and day after night
Instead we saw chains and links and links and chains
We tried to explain our skin means nothing
No color no race

But still we have no rights
We are but inferiors to those whose complexions are light
We tried to explain our skin means nothing
No color no race

We said that we were born this way
But you had already stolen them away
We tried to say we were created this way
That black and white doesn't change our ways
We tried to explain our skin means nothing
No color no race

But then you screamed that you are white and we are black
So you took them far away and never gave them back
A generation taken away
Lost forever stolen away
We tried to explain our skin means nothing
No color no race
