No more Dragons

I’ve slain the mighty dragon
I’ve exorcised the foul demon
No villain to bring to justice
Ghosts from the past no longer exist
In a castle of stone where I now reside
White horse rests in the stable
Polished armor collects dust on its stand
A battle worn sword mounted on the mantle
Now, with no cause, I am just a man
A man alone within the walls of stone
Unneeded for a cause, silence the new battle cry
No fair maiden to bring my life full circle
No sunset to absorb my form
Angels of mercy do not return my calls
A life of devotion, loyalty and honesty
To end in a cold and empty palace of stone
This, in truth, is a Knight’s common end.
