No More War

I say goodbye to everything I know
Tell them don't worry, no emotions I show
Pick up my bag as I walk out the door
Have to pretend I'm not going to war
I've lost some friends who didn't return
They didn't know they had much to learn
I saw how their loved ones would suffer
No one has a solution to offer
When they come back they never feel free
Some will come home with PTSD
It takes a steep toll to fight and to win
Just to find out you won't walk again
They're willing to work hard through the pain
They can see they have a lot to gain
Learning how to feel normal now
While doctors try to help somehow
Do you hear the 21 gun salute
They lay down their lives as they continue to shoot
We send our daughters and sons away
We give the best of our young each day
We commend them for their boldness
And tell them they need to trust us
We can't continue teaching this lie
The sacrifice has become too high
Peace has to be real to all the nations
To provide hope to the next generation
