Nobody Knows
Sometimes I stare into the mirror
And wonder what they see.
I wonder, can they see the girl
Who screams inside of me?
I stare into the mirror
At a face that isn't mine.
I know because she's beautiful,
But my eyes never shine.
Sometimes I stare into the mirror
And wonder, can they tell?
Does anybody catch a glimpse
That I'm trapped in a cell?
Does anybody look inside
Far enough to care
That I am standing on the edge,
Staring blankly at the air?
Does anybody see beyond
The smile the mirror shows?
Sometimes I stare into the mirror
And think--nobody knows.
And wonder what they see.
I wonder, can they see the girl
Who screams inside of me?
I stare into the mirror
At a face that isn't mine.
I know because she's beautiful,
But my eyes never shine.
Sometimes I stare into the mirror
And wonder, can they tell?
Does anybody catch a glimpse
That I'm trapped in a cell?
Does anybody look inside
Far enough to care
That I am standing on the edge,
Staring blankly at the air?
Does anybody see beyond
The smile the mirror shows?
Sometimes I stare into the mirror
And think--nobody knows.
