Nocturnal Notions

The mountain stretched to the moon
reached for the stars
and felt peace
as it rested against the night sky
as it fought to stay awake
so it could witness
what the night would create
listened to crunch of feet against it's body of rocks
craved for the howls to the moon it stretched against
and it waited it just waited
because even though it wanted to sleep
it was desperate to see the change it's body would make
in the blink of the eye of the sky and the ocean
as the orbs changed from a calm moon
to the burning irises of the sun.
