Not Broken For Long

Shattered, broken, destroyed my hope
With your lack of love, respect, yet your love for dope
Blasted, cursed, damned and blamed me
While you snubbed, dismissed, pushed aside my cries; my plea
What was once a potent, powerful, inviolable woman,
You’ve managed to wear me down, collapse what once stood tall
To erupt, expose and tear me apart.
Guest what? You may have cut me deep, penetrating
My heart to the core
But you can never break my spirit as I set out
Like an Eagle; I soar
I take flight as nothing you say or do will keep my feet to the ground
Nothing you ever do to me will hold me back from the new life I have found.
I have discovered that there is light on the other side and through that dark tunnel
I am still the same caring person who has a heart with love springing out like a runnel.
My love runs deep and wide and touches all others in my life
Too bad you couldn’t have cherished what I had to offer;
When I was your wife.
