not today

In time I know I’l find my way
And feel the warmth of love’s warm ray
Children will laugh and the music play
But not today

Clouds will make room for the silver moon
And the night will surrender to dawn and soon
I’ll remember the beauty of life’s sweet tune
But not today

Today I will feel all my hurts and cries
Lay bare my torn feelings to God’s blind eyes
And I’ll swear and I’ll search for some sweet relief
From the weight of my pain and my burden of grief

Today I’ll not seek any hope for tomorrow
I will wade in my weakness and drown in my sorrow
Watch my hope dissolve into mist above
With my dreams, my future, my strength, my love

In time, I know, the sun will shine
And if you ask, I’ll say “I’m doing fine”
But not today
