November Dawn

Ice crackles as it melts
Breaking across the silence of morning
It can hold only so long
Against the rays of the sun

Withering on the outside
Unable to sustain its frigid core
Sweating and holding its breath
Becoming transparent

It regrets and fears and hopes
As its skin melts away
Knowing it will still exist
But might never be whole again
