October Morning

The sound of lapping water cries
Nearby the old seaside town,
Where the deep October skies
Wear the jewels of Autumn crown.

And across the misty quay
A tide of silver comes undone,
The lost words of yesterday
Fade away from the rising sun.

When the darkness of last night
Vanishes in the endless sea,
The world shines in morning light
To say hello - for thee.
