Ode to a Lost Love

Trying to keep on a happy face,
Trying not to go to that useless place,

Tears held back behind a painted mask,
Each new day now feels like a task,

Joy does not have the same name,
Finding Joy is a never ending game,

Reflections of your face flash through my mind,
Then I remember that you were unkind,

Damn these memories that I am left to bare,
Damn all the feelings we used to share,

You were my angel but it was all a disguise,
I did not see you coming you took me by surprise,

You played with and twisted my heart,

You mad it harder to make a new start,
I am a fragment of the woman I used to be,
But now it is time to become the better me I am supposed to be.
