Ode to Another

The honey suckle are sweetly intertwining
The cherry boughs all swishing slightly
The slivery orb so gently fluorescing
Your penetrating gaze, it held mine lightly
A deep slumber has overtaken you
My ignorance fills you with rue
Seeking longingly to reveal to me
A dreadful truth that has long since been due
You are now the whispering shadow
While your lonesome spirit sinks
Underneath the deep watery gallows
Where your spirit and mine were linked
No longer, no more
Are your tender caresses to me
As my thrumming heart soon realizes
That you are not the lover I seek
But merely a wandering specter
Shewing the compassion you once knew
Would produce this youthful infatuation
From the enigmatic aura you shewed
Standing before the tombstone now
My somber conscience still reeling
This bashful conviction had withheld me
To confess this perceived feeling
When it was always you
Now the long buried lover
Although I wish this sweet, lingering affection was
Passed on for another
