Ode to Distance
My neighbor is more of a stranger to me
than you who is reachable only by sea.
She comes out every morning and night,
yet you, I recognize more with this near sight.
Seeing her makes me hope for your return
since your presence is what I truly yearn.
What will be of all this longing and sadness
when I'm finally with you? Happiness.
I stress the importance of this consequence,
for it holds a great quantity of significance.
When time is spent without you,
I find the appreciation in much more. It's true.
The miles, the years, the separation.
All these months I've given my dedication.
All this waiting, all for something.
Nothing will part us farther than our minds.
For this distance is only
if we let it be.
