Ode to fallen men

Battle raged on
Furiously and ferociously
Casualties doubling on and on
Fighter jets displacing wings
Foggy smoke and air in alignment
Then it ended
On arrival a general sighed
Many of his troops splintered
An hitherto stone hearted general
Crushed an urge to puke
Silenced lacrimal glands in orbits
To perish pain publicity
Reality condensed on stone
Eliciting configuration to tissue
Fine men had fallen
Comrades in arms
His cardiac tissue then bled
A grief camouflaged in the body
War has no good face
Pale motionless faces registered it
