Ode To My Brother

I wish the years of youth
stretched on and on,
and we never had to grow up.
Not because bug hunting
and hidden forts
and scraped knees
are all too precious to leave behind,
but because we so often forget
what is important from those days gone by:
our innocence,
our bright ideas,
our certainty,
and whatever you and I shared
once.
