Ode to the Bards

Croce in a plane crash
Denver lost control
let’s not forget
‘The day music died’
when we lost three in a row

Lennon was murdered
Mercury AIDs
and Presley OD’d
hard to accept
the sense of all these

there are many more lives
that we’ll no longer see
even suicide sometimes
takes them from we,
chamber artists, centuries of rhymes
some even pass on naturally.

too many bards
have sung their last song
long before they finish their tree
but their branches reach out
and touch the heavens
their light shines on for eternity

entities remain to hear
as melodic lyrics show their face
time on this blue marble sphere
their legacy plays on with grace
the metronome that keeps them here
shall never go to waste

It\'s sad to when such great artists pass away too soon.
