Ode to the Unappreciated

The shoelace was a snake, devouring the foot,
constricting together and tied in a knot,
weaving back and forth,
biting the tail end,

some tucked under the tongue,
the colors and stripes,
all over the feet,

fangs and aglets hanging away,
fat and thin,
to this day.

Snakelaces: unnoticed.
