Old Friend

Hello.
Remember me?

A stranger now but in another life
a companion.

We used to talk about what we would become
and do,
but that all seems like a dream now.

We have both grown apart.
And I can't remember the sound of your laugh anymore.

Much like the after taste of something sweet
you linger
until you've completely faded from my tongue.

I guess I'm fine with that because
we're not the same people that we used to be.
And I used to find comfort in your presence
but now I can't think of a single word to say.
So, I guess it's all for the best.

All I have left to say is

good-bye.
