Old Love Don’t Rust

By JoshT

Roses are red
Violets are blue
You held me together like glue
Without you I honestly don’t know what I would do
In this world, ain’t nobody handing out clues
It’s a dog eat dog world
And I’m gonna eat with or without you
You said you got me like no one else
But you left, just like everyone else
Ain’t nothing worst
Then seeing your world burst
Old love don’t rust
But you gave me no trust
The love ain’t real
That's why it’s the root of all evil
You brought out the worst in me
Every time I saw you my heart skipped a beat
Smiling every time you’re name popped up
But when I needed you, you never picked up
I still want you
But what can I do
Your friends talk about me, and you just respond with who?
The love of my life at one point
You made my world stand still
Thinking about you gives me the chills
Goosebumps go down my spine
Whenever you come to mind
Wishing you were mine
But life ain’t that fine
I know you're not what’s best
But I gotta get this off my chest
I need you like a tree needs leaves
You had me feeling so naive
