On Excellence

There is room for all kinds of excellence in the world.
Your excellence does not detract from my excellence,
nor mine from yours.

If I can rejoice in your achievements
as a gift to the world,
and not perceive them as proof
of my own inadequacy,
then I free myself from self-doubt,
channeling creativity into new territories.

If you can also rejoice with me in my achievements,
then the joy of our joint rejoicing
will doubly enrich the provinces we possess
and the world we share.
