Once A Poet
I once knew words that flowed into sentences
That opened the door to a soul full of dreams
A young wide eyed poet that dreamt up romance
And conjured up spell-like inspiring streams
She saw her whole future, a world far faraway
A kingdom of wishes that will soon be real
She knew once the chants floated on paper
Her greatest power will be revealed
Carefully thinking of words that must rhyme
Or portrayed the overpowering emotion
I remembered how she closed her eyes to imagine
The vision that will soon put her pen into motion
I once knew this poet a long time ago
How strong and brave she would be
But now I don’t know if she is still here
For that long ago poet used to be me
That opened the door to a soul full of dreams
A young wide eyed poet that dreamt up romance
And conjured up spell-like inspiring streams
She saw her whole future, a world far faraway
A kingdom of wishes that will soon be real
She knew once the chants floated on paper
Her greatest power will be revealed
Carefully thinking of words that must rhyme
Or portrayed the overpowering emotion
I remembered how she closed her eyes to imagine
The vision that will soon put her pen into motion
I once knew this poet a long time ago
How strong and brave she would be
But now I don’t know if she is still here
For that long ago poet used to be me
