Once Upon a Time
Once upon a time,
I was bright-eyed and innocent.
Before all the pain and ugliness of the world fell upon me;
Back when I could be oblivious to all the bad stuff,
And believe in only magic and fairy tales,
And that people could be pure.
Oh, how I wish I could return to that simple paradise.
I was too worried about growing up to stop and realize.
Why do we always want to grow up?
To go back to believing in fairness and wonder,
I would give the world.
To go back before this fire set upon my new reality,
And I realized how crazy and messed up and brutal we can really be
Before I was guilty of the same crimes.
Take me back
To the way it was before
Let me believe again.
