One Act

I remember that day and hearing the news
An act fueled by hatred that held no excuse
Every channel was showing our towers collapse
Throughout our nation flags flew at half mast
I remember the sadness I felt by our loss
While reading the names as each scrolled across
Age was to follow, and cities where from
Tears filled my eyes when the age was so young
Mothers lost daughters, and fathers lost sons
Thousands of people were losing someone
"Ground Zero" they called where the wreckage was left
In the air all around you could smell only death
One act that was meant for the whole world to see
Brought America down, right down to her knees
A terrorist act, like none other before
And with the attack we were brought into war
They took innocent lives, within our own land
For divided we fall, but united we will stand!
