One Day

When I last saw your face, it was as calm as could be.
She was so peaceful, so beautiful, yet so pale.
Laying there as if asleep, we wished she was dreaming of seeing us again.
One day we will meet once more.
She was a second mother,
Especially when things got tough.
Back then, things were pretty rough.
She made things better than most could never have done.
One day we will see each other again.
On a fateful February day, she lay there, ready to let go.
We encouraged her but she stayed strong.
For she was just as Hercules,
Strong and bull-headed.
But as gentle as a fly or a baby.
One day we will hug another time.
A cold day was the last, I wish it wasn’t.
Through life, everyone meets people,
Whom they will never forget.
For she was an angel sent from above,
That I’m glad I was the one to get.
She was an amazing person,
Sorrow befell us as she ascended.
For one day, I wish you would just descend.
Good luck where you’re at now.
We all wish you the best.
One day we will see each other again.
And I hope you’re peacefully at rest.
