One Final Kiss

One final kiss before I breathe my last,
One last memory on which to hold fast.

Mornings, filled with laughter
At your jokes, so hastily crafted,
mostly foolish, but always amused.

Nights, wrapped in each other's arms,
so close, as we merged,
Watching movies that we've seen
A hundred times before.

Though my life may be at an end,
Our story has not yet been penned,
The best is yet to come.

I will stay steadfast by your side,
In darkness and light, for you to confide,
Until the last of your days.

As long as you remember I will always be there,
watching and smiling from above.
As long as you ask me to, I'll always continue
to fill your heart with love.
