One Minute

One minute there, the next gone
A figure I once looked up to
But now, who are you?
That friend and strong hand
Is now like any other hand
One minute there
The next not even a sound
A storm of confusion, rage, and misunderstanding
Destroying whatever structure was built on my ground
Demolishing every ounce of love and care I have left for you
Despite how often things are rebuilt..
Not as great as the last
But there none the less
To have a "Sorry" at my door
A rainbow outside my window
Still I accept them
For why not enjoy what little time that light shines through
I'd rather not be cold
To tell you "It's not really true-
You're a tornado that won't fully change"
I choose to smile and say
"I love you too"
And believe you were once again that father that brought that joy
