One Strange Dream

As a cancer patient that survived
Finds themselves withdrawing from this grand stage
The pressure to engage in our parts is suddenly perishable
As chemo leaves their veins and the unbearable burning ceases
Only sunsets and ice cream cones really matter
I was reborn into a realm of radical enlightenment
But not for the meager inquiries
Or time fillers that once occupied my day in overtime
But for the experience and existential wander
The equanimity of everyday is entitling
Optimism isn't quite the word, rather open
The mundane existence is no longer morose but manageable
The ball of sadness inside morphs into a euphoric orb of wisdom
And suddenly,
Life is simply one strange dream that you can light on fire
