One Too Many Sets of Ears

This place is crowded
Clustered and tight
Overfilled with only three
One too many sets of ears
Will ruin our afternoon tea

Our secret is dying
Approaching extinction
Where once it was safe and sound
The rumors are flying
Lacking distinction
Their effects on all will astound

For there is no truth
To their rendition
Of our once intact disclosure
Their lies uncouth
Offend my soul
And rob my sense of composure

Stored away in my mind
My secret was
Truly only a notion
But shared with one more human being
Should not have set it in motion

Yes two would have been
The perfect harbor
For a secret such as mine
But one too many sets of ears
Spiraled it into decline

And all because too many stood
Within that crowded place
And compromised our secret
Which then lost all its grace
