Only a Woman

Only a Woman
My rights as a woman are petite
The man stands before me,
And I unwillingly stand last.
I remain silent,
I nurture,
I raise,
I clean,
I compete,
I hold my tongue until it bleeds.
I have fought for my bus seat,
And I have fought for my vote.
I have birthed Jesus.
I have been at flight across many seas.
I have led a moon landing.
I helped Lewis and Clark.
But I am still only a woman.
Emotional, dramatic, crazy
I cannot lead,
I am only a woman.
These are my rights.
