Only I can change me

I have been thru a lot of stuff in my life, and life can truly be hard..
But you know when the chips are down and there is no hope,
things always tend to work them self out.
It may not be my ideal choice, but I'm still alive and kicking..
And as much as I would like to blame everyone, and the world, for my problems,
there is only one person that I can logically blame.
Cause only I can change me.

    So moving!

  2. Charity Jones

Chips happen, but a positive attitude like yours will help you get back up and stop some of the spill <3

  3. Jessica Fava-Pack

Good start but this poem would be stronger if the grammatical errors were corrected or in contrast more exaggerated. Is this written to be read in your dialect? If so how could you bring that out to feel intentional?

  4. Olivia Larson

Take this theme, add some imagery, and you'll go far!

I see the vision in this piece

  13. Carah Fury

I really like this one, but I dont like the slangy text style spelling and language.

  14. Clarity

Sending a virtual hug. Read my poem, Today, Tomorrow, Today, Tomorrow. I think it will speak to the pain your poem expresses.

  15. William Wright

The thoughts were there, but it might needed a little bit more of description to better the poem.

  16. Alisa Smith

Much power to little wordiness. And easy to resonate with. Taking full responsibility for our situations in life is simultaneously empowering and terrifying.

  17. Tanya

The idea of the poem was great but while reading the poem it feels like i am reading a prose.

  18. Fleet

    Solid

  19. Jack Carter

This piece feels deeply personal and raw, and I really appreciate the honesty in it. You’ve captured that internal struggle between feeling overwhelmed by life and realizing that, at the end of the day, the power to change and move forward lies within yourself. The reflection on life’s hardships and the moment of self-awareness—where you acknowledge that you have control over how you respond—is really powerful.

  20. Jack Carter

This poem has such a heartfelt and nostalgic feel to it. The tenderness you express for this person, especially with lines like “Your eyes were so beautiful it set you apart” and “Your smile was so big it would light up the night,” really bring out the depth of affection and admiration. It’s clear that the connection you shared was deeply meaningful, and the imagery of being hugged tightly and the lasting impact of that person on your heart is really moving.

  21. Nat Hall

“cause” at the end is begging for an apostrophe, as in ‘cause or ‘cuz. also, “themselves” one word and plural.

  22. Charles Furbee

An exemplary peace indeed, I look forward to reading your work as you progress

  23. Ess Cee

Very meta. I like how it just cuts to the chase and creates a picture of how our stream of consciousness actually speaks to us

  24. Isha Mohamed

I love how this poem is so raw and relatable. I think most of us have had these deep thoughts about ourselves and life. You did a great job expressing your raw emotion in this poem!

  25. Angel Carver

    Well said, sir!

  26. Clay Grinnan

Being able to accept that you are at the heart of an issue is really important, but don't forget to look at the other factors that played into it. Nothing is entirely one person's fault. Blame is never logical; the only logical approach to a memory is understanding.

  27. Scotty

very moving, i love how its a short read. Dont need to write an essay in order to have a good poem, your piece is a prime example of that. Great work!

  28. Merry Lee Smalls

Try reading Langston Hughes "Mother to Son". I think of that poem when I read this.

  29. Heather Sedam

  31. WJ Green

    There's always truth in sincerity.

  32. MeganGoble

I liked the sentiment and raw, personal feelings exposed. I'd love to see more poetic devices used to move the poem away from from the prosaic.

  33. Skylar Ogden

  34. Victor Alan Blanchard
