Only in My Dreams
If the only time I ever hold you
Is in my late night dreams,
Then at least I still have part of you,
I hear your voice, you hear my screams.
I grow tired each new day waiting,
Singing all our old songs.
At last I drift off, once again,
Back in your arms where I belong.
We kiss, we love, we touch and laugh,
We share the stories of our day.
It feels like forever lying next to you,
But as morning comes you slip away.
I wake up in a panic, looking all around
I scream your name, pound my walls,
Yet you're nowhere to be found.
But just when I think you've given up on me,
Reality brings my dreams to an end.
You haven't been mine in months and still aren't
Wake up and stop playing pretend.
