Only in My Dreams

I can reach the stars and cure hunger and diseases
But only in my dreams

I can discover a new breed and make a life-impacting machine
But only in my dreams

Ordinary folks like me
Can do amazing and wondrous things
Part oceans and reach new heights
Engineer astounding objects that boggle the imagination and
Create beautiful, breathtaking art that leaps off the page
But only in our dreams

We're not Pablo Picassos
Or Albert Einsteins
Or Martin Luther King Jrs.
But before they were the legends they have become
They were ordinary people
Like me

For now I can't reach the stars or cure hunger and diseases
Part oceans or create breathtaking art that leaps off the page
For now they are still dreams

But maybe someday I can make my dreams
