Mask

Although my mornings are numerous
none of them are humorous
They are very confusing
And I feel like I’m losing
The battle to stay awake

Why is the horizon majestic
While life is so agrestic?
The cold is so immense
And I’m always without defense
Against my own loneliness

Like everyone else, I go to school beaming
But on the inside, I’m really screaming.
Sometimes my real face seeps through
And everyone sees me anew.
So I sew my fake face back on

I have a fake face plastered on
And I’m trying not to yawn
We all have something to face
And dreams we want to chase
So fly high into the sky
