Opposites

Fire seemed to catch light at her fingertips
Heat rose to her cheeks
Her lips set fires with each whisper
And fire seemed to dance across her eyes
Her skin burned with anger
She scorched the ground when she stepped
She singed each thing she touched
And her hair left trails of smoke

His hands seemed to freeze
His cheeks a cold, stone color
His lips froze the air with each whisper
And ice found itself in his eyes
His skin frozen in place
He hardened the ground when he stepped
He chilled everything he touched
And his hair paved paths of silence

She was fire,
And he was ice

A forbidden love seemed meet at their fingers
Cheeks filled with a faded color
Their lips awaiting a kiss
Despair in their eyes
Their skin perfectly mixed
They broke the rules of life with each step
And left a trail of love in their place.
