I'm from the last of a dying breed,
where most of my kind don't succeed,
‘cause we get caught up in the system,
and sometimes it's not by our decisions
or the life we’re living
but just because our skin is different
from the majority.
I guess that's what gives them the authority
to kill and lock up the minority.
So tell me what's the options
for me
‘cause even if you work hard,
go to school,
and play by the rules,
you could still end up on the news
for getting arrested without a cause
even though you always follow the law.
The only thing you can do is pray
that one day
people see character
instead of color
and a fellow brother
instead of other.
