Our Black History

We are our history,
We are black,
This is our black history.

We are the past, the present, and the future.
We as black America are to present ourselves
The way our ancestors paved the way for us to do so.

Martin didn't march for us to march in the wrong direction,
Not for us to just follow,
But to show us how to one day lead.

Rosa didn't sit so we could get up and walk away,
Not that disobedience is right, but that,
Sometimes you need to sit in order to take a stand.

We have became those criticized in our own society,
Emmett Till, Trayvon Martin, and Jordan Davis,
A new look at hope and justice for our society.

We learn from our past,
By presently doing what we can,
To create a brighter future.

We are our history.
We are black.
And this is our black history.
