Our Generation

In a world that is dark, shaded with light
Oppression is common, happiness slight
People who you once thought were friends
Turn against you because you're not one of them
The world is cruel, reality hurts
Kindness comes second, the selfish come first
Is this the way that we want to live?
Is this the future we want for our kids?
We need to go back, back to a time
When neighbors helped neighbors and people were kind
Times like these weren't so long ago
But it's something our children don't even know
They don't have respect, they don't even care
About the less fortunate people out there
Humility is lost, greed takes it's place
But we can change this, there's no time to waste
We need to help this generation to see
How love and compassion can set you free
Get rid of the hatred that bears your name
Instead of honor, you show nothing but shame
