Our Guardians

There was a time before your trips to the mall
Before you thought they let you fall
When your number one goal was to be tall
Then came late nights when you forgot to call

And suddenly they became a pest
Now you think you're well above the rest
Your new aspiration is to ace the test
Can't wait for the day to leave the nest

They become those who claim they understand you
They'll declare they know what you're going through
You loathe the moment they tell you what to do
It's too late when you realize they experienced it too
