Our Secret World


there is a world hidden within our own
swirling in the dark recesses
of our minds
shrouded in mystery
it is only at times such as these
when we allow the
facade of perfection
to slip
to allow ourselves
to breathe
unrestricted
vulnerable
that it slowly emerges from the
barred prisons of our minds
smirking with malicious intent
as it stretches like a fat cat
awoken from a long dreamless sleep
it slinks sneakily through our veins
ensuring we aren't aware of its presence
until it's too late
until it has managed to capture its prey;
