Our World, We Cannot Know

Our little magic boxes,
Our fun little devices,
Too much for us to notice,
The presence of our vices,

The world at our fingertips,
Knowing at a glance,
We are too naive to notice,
We've been put into a trance,

A wonderful idea,
Not quite wonderful at best,
To have such a marvelous distraction,
Help us turn away from the rest,

Little black holes,
In the palms of our hands,
Keeping us from reality,
And making no new friends,

Einstein was right,
Nobody escapes their glow,
We live through our little boxes,
In a world we will never know.
