Overture Is the Night

The silent overture of the night
Dark and calming still
Black paints the sky and the clouds look the key
The silent overture of the night
Heaven offers the earthly notes and the stars know their tune
The silent overture of the night
Moonlit grand ballroom floor
Cricketing crickets acquiring the choir, our dreams hear their tempo
The silent overture of the night
Frolicking mice gather for the evening's festivities
Daily wishing for nightly feasting
The cat awaits her impromptu improvisational kill
The silent overture of the night
Two ravens squabbling loudly, their quintessential motto
Bantering rudely, over who's the most virtuosic bravado
The silent overture of the night
Rain drops dancing on the beaten copper roof
Night crawlers prancing, while cautiously aloof
The silent overture of the night
The wolf cries out it's bloodletting ballad
And the redwood spectates, quiet like, audience still
Inherent composing, beast and tree embraces
Hunting together the redwood conceals wolf's traces
The silent overture of the night
Morrow beacons at the evening's last crescendo
Until the next sunset, the night's players, cue their diminuendo
