Painted Smile

She's a lonely girl with a painted on smile,
Sometimes she'll stop and stay for a while.
Would you share her pain, for a brief moment?
Only to borrow never to own it.

Her mind will escape and off wondering it goes,
Searching for something that only she knows.
She'll give you a glance as she floats on by,
To a secret place, where in silence she'll cry.

Time rages on and people do too,
Hear her cry for help, she's calling to you.
The wind and the waves, they beat her down,
She needs air or surely she'll drown.

Do you hear her cry? She's calling to you,
In the end it's too late, if only you knew.
