Pale, Clear Eyes

Pale clear eyes
An easy life, bedside companion
Stuffed with secrets, to fantasize.
You are the only one who listens.

In the pale light I dress
Dress up, dress down
We are playing dress up
With the rich, full town.

A doll, that's the answer
For only a doll can withstand
The look in their eyes.
Only a doll can understand
The alibis, the absent ties.

But it's just something I do
"Barney loves you too"
I forget the words that were told.
I forget the words that were said.
Because I am more than a doll.
I'm alive, and
if I must be pale
To live, I will.
