Paramour

A mistress' rose grows beneath,
dark as nightfall,
Damask sheath,

vines be tangled,
thorns be keen,
blood be drawn,
a scarlet sheen,

Secluded depths,
thus unknown,
bring great pain,
and ravished moans,

tender touches,
repentant stares,
fleeting farewells,
forgotten affairs,

Petals wilted,
sheaths concealed,
memories bequeathed,
Heartache revealed.
